Syria expects more efforts from Moussa in solving Lebanon crisis

DAMASCUS, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Syria said on Sunday that it was waiting for the Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa to resume his efforts on pushing forward an Arab initiative aimed at ending the ongoing presidential crisis in Lebanon.
"The Arab plan is clear in its adoption of a no winner no loser stand which puts Lebanon on the road of health and stability because it will be the only winner," a foreign ministry official source was quoted as saying by the official SANA news agency.
Moussa left Beirut Saturday after his four-day-long marathon talks with Lebanon's rival factions without a breakthrough in installing the three-point plan endorsed in Cairo last Sunday.
The three-point plan aimed at immediately electing Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Michel Suleiman as Lebanese president, proceeding to form a national unity government and drafting a new electoral law.
Lebanon is facing today the most critical situation since the 1975 civil war which wrecked the country for 15 years.
Lebanese presidential seat has been vacant since former President Emile Lahoud ended his term on Nov. 24, and the sharply divided Lebanese parliament has delayed the elections for twelve times without a consensus.
